Lens Test

-- Brian

Having just acquired this lens, I tried using it around the house. It's so light at only 305 grams, especially comparing to what I'm always using, the 85mm f/1.2 and 70-200mm f/2.8. It's size is just perfect for my Canon EOS RP.

35mm | f/1.8 | ISO 800 | 1/50 sec

35mm | f/2.8 | ISO 200 | 1/25 sec

35mm | f/2.8 | ISO 200 | 1/25 sec

35mm | f/2.8 | ISO 100 | 1/100 sec

With built-in image stabilisation, I'm comfortable to use slower shutter speed in low light situations. Images are sharp, even when wide open at f/1.8.

35mm | f/1.8 | ISO200 | 1/80 sec

35mm | f/2.8 | ISO200 | 1/40 sec

With minimum focus distance of 17cm, it's useful for taking macro shots as well.

35mm | f/2 | ISO200 | 1/200 sec

Can't complain with auto-focus either. I still need to test it using my R6 with its animal eye auto-focus. Here's some images taken with RP body.

And finally, checking the bokeh, it's rendered nicely even with a busy background.

With its versitility, I'm expecting to have this in my camera bag everytime I'm going out for a photoshoot. Its size and weight will also be an advantage when I'm shooting all day in weddings and events.
